Faye Lillian Tilley

Faye Lillian Tilley of Mountain Grove, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 16, 2009, at 94 years of age.

She was the daughter of Walter and Grace Agnes (Cooper) Davis, born on August 5, 1914 in Houston, Missouri. She was united in marriage to William Batterton “Bill” Tilley on April 12, 1936 in Houston, Missouri. Two children were born to this union. She and her husband Bill had operated Tilley Rexall Drug on the square in Mountain Grove for many years before their retirement in 1979.

Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on March 13, 1993; two brothers: Cecil and Hubert Davis; and by one sister: Wilma Butts.

Faye is survived by her children: Carolyn Peterson and Bill Tilley II, both of Mtn. Grove; six grandchildren: Robert Peterson, Bill Tilley III, and Chris Tilley, all of Springfield; Laura Peterson of Kansas City; Warrant Officer Brian Tilley, USMC of Oceanside, CA; Shawn Tilley of Springfield, VA; and four great-grandchildren: Nathan and Jacob Peterson, Bill Tilley IV, and Ashley Tilley.

Faye was a cancer survivor, having been diagnosed with colon cancer several times beginning in 1982. She eventually made a full recovery. Her recent illness was unrelated.
She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
No Formal Visitation:
Viewing hours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday, March 20th and from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 21st.
