Florence Elizabeth (Ragsdale) Mcgowen

Florence Elizabeth McGowen, daughter of the late Henry and Minnie (Corbin) Ragsdale, was born on March 20, 1912 in Bado, Missouri and departed this life on March 18, 2011 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 98 years of age.
Florence grew up in the Bado Community and attended the Murr and Gravel Point Schools. She was united in marriage to Orval McGowen. Three children were born to this union. They made their home in Texas and Wright Counties for many years. Mr. McGowen passed away on April 15, 1976.
Florence enjoyed being outdoors tending to her flower and vegetables gardens. She also liked quilting, sewing, cooking and canning.
She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed watching the games. Her favorite player was Albert Pujols.
Florence was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was saved at an early age and was baptized at Bado. She attended the Fowler Church for over fifty years where she made many friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Warren Ragsdale and Ray Ragsdale; three sisters: Elois Dansby, Bea Hardin, and Leona Cantrell; three grandchildren: Tina Harvey, Sonny Meade and Debbie Hurst.
Florence is survived by her son: Bob McGowen and his wife, Barbara; two daughters: Shirley Mead and her husband, Harold, and Betty Janes, all of Mtn. Grove; five sisters: Bessie Gordon of West Plains, Missouri, Dorothy Harvey of Springfield, Missouri, Fern Fitzhugh, Maxine Baty of Tempe, Arizona, and Dixie Baty of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.

Funeral Service:
Tuesday, March 22nd, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Visitation:
Friends may call at their convenience on Monday, March 21st after 10:00 AM in the funeral home.
