Floyd Clifton Raney

June 28, 1914 — January 30, 2009

Floyd Clifton Raney, son of the late Clarence A. and Ethel (Hill) Raney, was born on June 28, 1914 in Norwood, Missouri and passed away on January 30, 2009 at his residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri following a long illness. He was 94 years, 7 months and 2 days of age.


Floyd grew up and attended school in Wright County and graduated from Norwood High School in 1934. He enjoyed playing basketball in high school. During his lifetime, he enjoyed watching basketball especially the Lady Bears. He got to meet Jackie Stiles which was one of the highlights of watching the Lady Bears play.


Floyd was united in marriage to Emajean Longwell on May 15, 1964 in Mtn. Grove.
Floyd liked helping others around him. He was always working and one of the most enjoyable jobs he had was selling cars to repeat customers in the community. He also liked to farm and raise livestock.

Floyd was saved and baptized in California as a young man. He attended the Southside Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove as long as his health permitted.

Floyd was a member of the Masonic Lodge #622 in Norwood for over sixty years.


Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Donald Raney, Hollis Raney, Bobby Raney, and Lewis Raney; one sister: Bonnie Sanders; and by a son-in-law: David Crutcher.
He is survived by his loving wife: Emajean Raney of their home; two sons: Melvin Stillwell and his wife, Christy, and Bill Raney, all of Mtn. Grove; two daughters: Suzette Crutcher of Springfield, Missouri and Lounette Haste and her husband, Charles, of Zolfo Springs, Florida; one sister: Shirley Lindsay and her husband, Jack, of Springfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.


Funeral services:
Tuesday, February 3, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Monday, February 2, 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
Burial:
Hillcrest Cemetery
