Frank Tompkins

Frank Tompkins, son of the late Thomas Franklin "David" and Lola Jane (Strunk) Tompkins, was born on October 14, 1918 in Dunlap, Iowa and passed away on September 7, 2011 at his daughter’s home south of Mtn. Grove, Missouri. He was 92 years of age.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged after four years of service.
He was united in marriage to Delores June Wampler on October 31, 1945. Three children were born to this union: David, Steven and Kathi.
Frank enjoyed being outdoors, especially when working on his farm, cutting and splitting wood, gardening, and growing watermelons. He truly enjoyed sharing his produce with his many friends at the Mtn. Grove Senior Center.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years: Delores Tompkins; his son: Steven Tompkins; and by a sister: Ruby Beck.
He is survived by one son: David Tompkins and his wife, Judy, of Douglas County, Missouri; one daughter: Kathi Oetting and her husband, Steve, of Norwood, Missouri; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
