Garry Dewayne Hall

December 17, 1948 — July 29, 2019

Garry Dewayne Hall, son of Loretta (Caudle) Hall and the late Alva Howard “Jack” Hall, was born December 17, 1948, in Norwood, Missouri, and passed away after a long illness on July 29, 2019, at NHC Healthcare in West Plains, Missouri. He was 70 years, 7 months, and 13 days of age.

Garry married Sherry Owens July 8, 1967, in Macomb, Missouri. Three daughters were born to this union. Garry joined the United States Army June 13, 1968, and served during the Vietnam War earning the National Defense Service Medal, two C/S Bars, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Devido 1960, Expert (M-14, M-16), and a Purple Heart.

Garry spent the majority of his employment years as a laborer in road construction. He was a member of Laborers Local 676 International Union and retired when he was 55.

Garry was a yellow dog democrat and would argue with any person that professed allegiance to another party. He was also a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. On Sundays, he always had the Nascar race on television and Monday nights were reserved for Monday Night SmackDown. He loved going to Downstream and Buffalo Run Casinos after he retired. He enjoyed an ice cold Budweiser and Little Debbie Cakes but most of all, he adored his grandchildren and would brag about them to anyone who would listen. Garry was also an extravagant gift giver. He loved giving his family gifts on birthdays and at Christmas.

Garry was preceded in death by his father, Jack Hall.

He is survived by his mother, Loretta Hall, of Macomb, Missouri, four daughters, Shelly Moore and her husband, Doug, of Springfield, Missouri, Wendy Davis and her husband, Johnny, of West Plains, Missouri, Amber Hall and Kylie LaBelle of Mountain Grove, Missouri, the mother of his children, Sherry Hall, of Norwood, Missouri, two brothers, Larry Hall and his wife, Laurel, of Theodosia, Missouri, and David Hall and his wife, Carmalee, of Jefferson City, Missouri, one sister, Robin McNeil and her husband, Dwayne, of Mansfield, Missouri, eight grandchildren, Ashlyn Gagnon, Alex and Grace Moore, Coltan, Trevor, and Shelbie Reese, and Isabella and Gage January, one great-grandchild, Abel Gagnon, and other relatives and friends who will greatly miss him.
