Gene Richard Douglass

October 3, 1946 — February 23, 2014

Gene Richard Douglass, son of the late William “Bill” Sr. and Betty (Alderson) Douglass was born on October 3, 1946 in Texas County, Missouri and departed this life on February 23, 2014 at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 67 years of age.
Gene went to school in Mountain Grove and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1964. Then Gene went on to attend Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, Missouri. Gene loved to play football in high school as well as college. He was forever a fan and supporter of the sports programs at both schools. Gene also enjoyed golfing and hunting.

In the mid 1980’s, Gene took over the business his father had started and renamed it Douglass Steel; however, among the family it was just commonly referred to as “Dunn”.
Gene married Linda Fields on January 31, 1970 in Independence, Missouri. Two daughters were born to this union.
Besides his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Julie, and his oldest brother, Bill, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his youngest daughter, Jill MacPherson: three granddaughters: Olivia, Madelyn, and Camille; five brothers: Chet Douglass and his wife, Judy, Charley Douglass and his wife, Jean Ann, Jim Douglass, Robert Douglass, and John Douglass and his wife, Betty; six sisters: Carol Dodds, Pinky Gum and her husband, Mac, Nancy Duplisse and her husband, Bill, Nona Richey and her husband, Ron, Anna Stigall and her husband, Marty, and Marla Douglass; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.
