George Edward Adkisson, Jr.

George Edward "Butch" Adkisson Jr., 77, of Mountain Grove was promoted to glory Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Ozark Medical Center, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was surrounded by loved ones and plenty of music, one of the greatest passions of his life.

Mr. Adkisson was born March 17, 1940, at his grandmother's home in Fraser, Colorado, the son of George Adkisson Sr. and Lillian Waugh Adkisson. He married Agnes Adkisson in July of 1961, and had two children. He was married three more times, lastly to Dealie Elaine Richardson Adkisson in 2009 and divorced in 2015.

Surviving are a daughter, Kristi L. Ralls, of Cabool, Missouri, a son, Danny Adkisson and daughter-in-law, Karlena, of Drury, Missouri, and his grandchildren, Sharmyla Schniedermeyer and her husband, Shaun, Brannan Adkisson and his wife Brittney, and David Adkisson, as well as three great-grandchildren, Allison, Savanah, and Jensen, also an aunt, Mary Specht of Commerce City, Colorado.

Mr. Adkisson was reunited with his departed family members, his parents, a sister, Cathy Marrich, and many loving aunts.

Mr. Adkisson graduated from DaAnza High School, Richmond CA. in 1958. George was a gifted athlete, even holding the National record in the 50 yard dash for a period of time. He remained involved in sports for the rest of his life.

Upon graduation George joined the Air Force. Part of the time he was stationed overseas and fought in the beginning of the Vietnam War. He received several medals and commendations. Mr. Adkisson faithfully served the country until Oct. of 1966.

After dedicating his life to Christ he gave his lifelong gift of singing and playing drums back to the Lord, serving as a praise and worship leader in several churches throughout his adult life. Mr. Adkisson had earned an ordained minister's license but chose to serve how he felt "best", by singing and leading other's into God's worship.

Mr. Adkisson requested there be no service or viewing. In lieu of flowers, any memorial donations can be made to The Salvation Army or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
