Geraldine "Jeri" Shannon

Geraldine “Jeri” Shannon, daughter of the late Noble and Mildred (Hines) McGowan, was born January 25, 1947, in Douglas County, Missouri, and passed away July 9, 2021, at her home in Fordland, Missouri. She was 74 years, 5 months, and 15 days of age.

Jeri was raised in Douglas County and attended school in Cabool, Missouri, and then William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri, where she graduated. Jeri married Howard Shannon on November 10, 1964, in Independence. One son was born to this union.

Jeri worked as a teacher’s aide for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, especially flower gardening. She liked to read and would often complete a book each week. She also loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Jeri was preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Mildred McGowan.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Shannon, of Fordland, Missouri, one son, Philip Shannon of Springfield, Missouri, one grandchild, Savannah, two sisters, Phyllis Shannon and her husband, Calvin, of Fordland, Missouri, and Lauralee Rogers of Springfield, Missouri, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
