Geraldine Volner

Geraldine (Carder) Volner, daughter of the late Lester and Edna Carder, was born August 11, 1945, in Rayborn, Missouri, and departed this life August 20, 2017, at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 72 years and 9 days of age.

Geraldine was raised in Rayborn, Missouri, and attended schools there. She was united in marriage to Ulas Volner on July 17, 1958. Geraldine and Ulas were married for 59 years, 1 month, and 3 days. Together they created a big family which was Geraldine’s life. Geraldine’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family. In her alone time she liked to sew and do quilt work. She made a quilt for each of her kids and grandkids. Geraldine loved to read the Bible and share the Gospel every chance she got. Geraldine attended church until she became too ill to go. Geraldine enjoyed going to yard sales and finding all of the bargains. She also loved to watch wrestling. Her favorite wrestler was Roman Reigns.

Geraldine worked at Brown Shoe Company, managed an orange grove, and waitressed throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Edna Carder; two brothers, Ronald Carder and Kenneth Carder, two sisters, Imogene Carder and Janet Miller, one grandson, Jeremy O’Gara, and three great-grandsons, Jordon and Blake Sherman, and Larhkin Muzzy.

Geraldine is survived by her loving husband (the love of her life), Ulas Volner of their home, four sons and two daughters, Larry Volner and his wife, Pam, of Norwood, Missouri, Mary Hardin and her husband, Eric, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Terry Volner and his wife, Tammy, of Norwood, Gail Miller and her husband, Randy, Tommy Volner and his companion, Mandy Creed, and Jake Volner and his companion, Amber Bellew, all of Mountain Grove, one adopted son, Heywood Gidcumb and his wife, Melissa, of South Roxana, Illinois, one brother, Gary Carder and his wife, Pam, of Mountain Grove, one sister, Loretta Stout and her husband, Rick, of Drury, Missouri, grandkids and great-grandkids, Keith, Erin, Crescin, and Zailey Muzzy of Dilworth, Minnesota, Shasta Miller, Allison, and Caydiance Sherman, Dustin Miller, Izzy Stewart and Jessica Stafford, Justin, Jade, Morgan, and Brooklyn Miller, Cheyenne Miller, Rhonda and Steven Sparbel, Samantha Volner, Jeremy Volner, Cynthia, Jacob, Jakoby, Landrie, and Johannah Turner, Cassandra, Eddie, and Camilla Kirkendall, Vicky Volner, Thomas, Danielle, Kyler, Ethan, and Koda Volner, Dallas Volner, and Savannah Volner all of Mountain Grove, Brittany, Brent, Kolten, Carson, and Sophia Grogan of Marshfield, Missouri, Billy Volner, Nicky Volner, Shawn Volner, Austin, and Kathie Volner all of Norwood, Candice, Mike, Augustus, and Nevaeh Yoder of Indiana, Skylynn Valle, Justis Gidcumb, and Nevaeh Gidcumb of South Roxana, Illinois, Brandi Gidcumb of East Alton, Illinois, and Ashley Gidcumb of Athens, Ohio. Geraldine lived for her grandkids and great-grandkids who, in her eyes, never did any wrong.
