Gladys Marie Crisp

April 23, 1929 — July 2, 2007

Gladys Marie Crisp, daughter of the late Cecil and Pearl (Fogerson) Gaddis, was born on April 23, 1929 in Wright County, Missouri on the Gaddis farm, and departed this life on July 2, 2007 at her residence near Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 78 years, 2 months, and 9 days of age.
Gladys grew up and attended school in Wright County. She attended SMS in Springfield to earn her teaching certificate and taught in two small schools, North Campbell and Dunesmore north of Mtn. Grove for a few years. She was united in marriage to Claude Crisp on April 21, 1950. One son was born to this union. They made their home on a farm where she remained until her passing. She helped with farm chores and was a homemaker all her life.
Gladys was baptized at West First Street Church of Christ in Mtn. Grove.
She loved quilting and crocheting in her spare time. She was always ready to prepare a meal for anyone that would stop by for a visit. She truly enjoyed her family, neighbors and friends. She had a loving heart and wonderful smile that will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband: Claude Crisp of their home; her son: Donald Crisp of Mtn. Grove; one brother: Jack Gaddis of Mtn. Grove; two sisters: Evelyn Fox of Hastings, Minnesota, and Ruth Williams of Kansas City, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Gladys Crisp were held Thursday, July 5, 2:00 PM in the Evening Shade Church with Rev. Gary Hurley officiating. Wayne & Sheila Crisp served as singers. Song selections were “Farther Along,” and “Amazing Grace.” Pallbearers were Leo Dowden, Lonnie Dowden, Gene Dowden, Noel Dowden, Josh Hefner, and Randy Gaddis. Burial was in the evening Shade Cemetery under the direction of the CraigHurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri. www.craighurttfuneralhome.com
