Glenn Ora Walker

December 8, 1925 — November 5, 2016

Glenn Ora Walker, son of the late Charles Henry and Elvie (Beckham) Walker, was born on December 8, 1925 in Hartville, Missouri, and departed this life on November 5, 2016 in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at 90 years, 10 months, and 28 days of age.

Glenn graduated from the 8th grade at Broyles School, north of Norwood, Missouri. He joined the Navy at the age of 18, and received his training at Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois and Camp Shoemaker in California. He was sent to Pearl Harbor, then to Midway Island, and then back to Pearl Harbor before being discharged in Seattle, Washington.

Glenn married Sylvia Hackworth on October 31, 1946. Three children were born to this union.

After several employments, Glenn went to work for Aro Corporation in Bryan, Ohio, where he worked for 40 years. After retiring, Glenn moved to a farm in Manes, Missouri for a few years before moving to Mountain Grove.

Glenn greatly enjoyed music especially if it involved playing the guitar, singing, or jig dancing. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, and fishing. Glenn loved visiting with others and spending time with his family. Glenn never met a stranger. He also greatly loved his poodles.

Besides his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia, an infant daughter, Glenda Gay Walker, his son, Daryl Walker, two brothers, Earl and Paul, four sisters, Erma, Lois, Dot, and Spicy, and by his companion of several years, Betty Music.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Dohm, and her husband, Dennis, of Montpelier, Ohio, his daughter-in-law, Tereasa Walker, of Columbus, Indiana, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two nieces, Delinda and Fern, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and many other relatives and friends who will greatly miss him.


Visitation: Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.

Burial: Broyles Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions: Broyles Cemetery in c/o the funeral home.
