Glenn Palmer Kemper

August 14, 1937 — July 18, 2018

Glenn Palmer Kemper, son of the late Earl Carly and Pauline (Brott) Kemper was born August 14, 1937, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and passed away July 18, 2018, in Springfield, Missouri. He was 80 years, 11 months, and 4 days of age.

Glenn grew up in the Mountain Grove community and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1955. He married Ytoka Todd on June 9, 1956, in Dawson, Missouri. Three children were born to this union: Todd, Kenneth, and Larissa.

Glenn was very active in Boy Scouts of America. He devoted more than forty years as a Scout Master in both Sedalia and Mountain Grove. Hundreds of boys’ lives were influenced by Glenn throughout the years.

He was past president for the local Chamber of Commerce, past City Alderman, and served on the Arts Council and the IDA Board. Glenn and Ytoka loved to garden together. He spent many hours enjoying his work in his personal gardens as well as planting flowers and shrubs and caring for the Mountain Grove City Square.

Glenn owned Link Motor Supply and opened Kemper Automotive in Mountain Grove, which later became O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Besides his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ytoka, on November 11, 2015, and one brother, Walter Kemper.

He is survived by two sons, Todd Kemper and his wife, Teresa, of Conway, Arkansas, and Kenneth Kemper and his wife, Deborah, of Vincent, Alabama, one daughter, Larissa Mullen and her husband, Phillip, of Independence, Missouri, two brothers, Larry Kemper and his wife, Karen, and Malcolm Kemper and his wife, Judy, all of Mountain Grove, two sisters, Kay Herring of Billings, Missouri, and Polly June Johnson and her husband, Dennis, of Republic, Missouri, five grandchildren, Tammy Drake, Kristan Francis, Lucas Kemper, Jeremy Mullen, and Jessica Mullen, four great-grandchildren, Abigail Madrigal, Nicholas Madrigal, Alathia Kemper, and Phoenix Francis, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
