Harriett Rebecca Raney

October 16, 1920 — June 7, 2009

Harriett Rebecca Raney, daughter of the late Ray and Ernestine (Kempt) Barnett, was born on October 16, 1920 in Exeter, California, and departed this life on June 7, 2009 at her residence near Norwood, Missouri following a short illness, at 88 years of age.
Harriett grew up and attended school in Missouri and was united in marriage to Otis Golvin Raney on October 21, 1939. One son was born to this union. They made their home in California for several years and moved to a farm near Norwood, Missouri over fifty years ago. Harriett enjoyed working on the farm along with her husband, Otis, who passed away on April 17, 1997.
Besides her farm duties, Harriett enjoyed being outdoors tending to her gardens each year. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting with her many friends and neighbors. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was saved and baptized early in life and remained faithful throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Caudle “Union Grove” Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Eugene Barnett.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Russell and Louise Raney of Norwood, Missouri; two granddaughters: Kimberly Raney of Springfield, Missouri and April Duggins of Seattle, Washington; two great-grandchildren: Kieran Duggins and Gemma Duggins; her sister-in-law: Zeta Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri; an aunt: Ruth Barnett of Mtn. Grove; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral Services:
Wednesday, June 10th at 10:00 AM in the Caudle (Union Grove) FWB Church.
Visitation:
Tuesday, June 9th - 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
Burial:
Thomas Cemetery
