Harrison T. Roth

July 14, 1919 — March 23, 2007

Harrison Thomas Roth, son of the late Harry and Florence (Davis) Roth, was born on July 14, 1919 in Oley, Pennsylvania and departed this life on March 23, 2007 at his farm in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a short illness. He was 87 years, 8 months, and 9 days of age.
Harrison grew up and attended school in Oley, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1936. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Grubb on September 22, 1940 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Five children were born to this union. They moved to Missouri and raised their family on a dairy farm near Mtn. Grove. Harrison was a longtime member of the FFA and from 1968 to the present he donated a calf to the organization every year.
Harrison was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed taking care of his farm and deer hunting with his family and many friends over the years.
He was a people person and made many friends while working in area businesses in Mtn. Grove.
Harrison also enjoyed telling stories of his boxing days and his younger years while living in Pennsylvania.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He loved his family very much and always looked forward to spending time with them and visiting with his many friends.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove where he was a deacon for over fifty years. He loved serving the Lord, attending services, and his manner of praying was a witness to many. Harrison and Genevieve enjoyed being involved in “Campers On Mission.”
He married Annetta Hill on December 5, 2004 in Mtn. Grove.
Harrison was preceded in death by his first wife: Genevieve Roth on September 12, 2002; one son: Harrison Timothy Roth; two brothers: Donald Roth and James Roth; a brother-in-law: Foster Grubb; and by two sisters: Laura Johnson and Eva Correll.
He is survived by his wife: Annetta Roth of their home; three sons: Jonathan Roth and his wife, Mary Sue, Nathan Roth and his wife, Beverly, and Andrew Roth and his wife, Libby, all of Mtn, Grove; one daughter: Susan Sanders and her husband, Lars, of Willard, Missouri; a daughter-in-law: Elizabeth Roth-Verkler and her husband, Ron, of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister-in-law: Mary Zimmerman of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives, friends, and church family who will miss him very much.
Funeral services for Harrison Roth will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Nancy Doty and Libby Roth served as singers. Jean Ann Reed served as pianist. Song selections were “How Great Thou Art,” and “Softly And Tenderly.” Pallbearers were Danny Sanders, Joel Sanders, Lane Sanders, Tim Roth, J.C. Roth, and Kane Roth. Honorary pallbearers were Christine Rorie, Mandy King, Cassie Rice, Cheryl Edquist, Ashley Thompson, Karen Ridder, Christina Conrad, Terra Graham, Jama Clark, and Sunni Morris. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.

Tuesday, March 27, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Hillcrest Cemetery, Mtn. Grove
