Ival Crisp, son of the late Daniel Everett and Docia Azelea (Adams) Crisp, was born at home near Manes, Missouri on June 28, 1918, and passed from this life at his residence north of Mtn. Grove, Missouri near Manes, on March 8, 2014. He was 95 years, 6 months, and 8 days of age.
As a young man, he worked the family farm until March 15, 1941, at which time he was called into service for our nation. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He trained in Texas and Georgia as a gunman, until he was sent overseas to fight in France, Germany and Belgium. In addition to several medals and awards, Ival was awarded a Bronze Star in 1945. He served his country in the Battle of the Bulge through difficult conditions for six weeks of fighting until the allies won. On November 20, 1945 he was honorably discharged from the service and returned to the family farm. He continued to farm throughout the years until his death.
On June 29, 1950, Ival was united in marriage to Pansy Pearl Bowlin in Harrison, Arkansas. Four daughters were born to this union; Ilene, Erlene, Merlene and Kathy. Ival and Pansy had sixty-three years together.
Ival continued to milk cows and work various jobs. He later went to work at Fort Leonard Wood in 1964 and retired in 1980.
He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when hunting, fishing, and tending to his farm duties.
Ival was saved at the Evening Shade Church and enjoyed attending services until he fell and broke his neck this past December.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Verl Crisp; two sisters: Ida Delcour and Iona Burns; and by three daughters: Ilene Ellis, Erlene Crisp, and Kathy Crisp.
