Jack Dake

Jack Lee Dake was born October 20, 1936, in Tulare, California, and passed away May 25, 2021, at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri.

Jack’s family moved to Norwood, Missouri when he was six years old. He attended Norwood schools and graduated in 1955. He was student body president and star basketball player.

Jack was united in marriage to Mary Schudy on April 12, 1957, in Norwood, Missouri. Two sons were born to this union, Mark and Rick.

Jack worked hard all of his life to provide for his family and took pride in his work. He started out selling furniture in Branson, then worked for Anderson Park, running a tobacco and candy route in Southern Missouri. Jack owned and operated his own bulldozer for many years, and later worked as a loan officer at Security Bank in Mountain Grove. When he retired from the bank, he started dairy farming. He also worked for Hammons Walnut Company, setting up hulling stations over several Midwest states. In retirement, he enjoyed living on the farm and visiting with friends at the Norwood truck stop.

Jack enjoyed woodworking in his free time. He also enjoyed working with guns and was known as a marksman.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Neulin and Beulah (Jones) Dake.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Dake, of their home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, two sons, Mark Dake and wife, Kim, of West Plains, Missouri, Rick Dake of Cookeville, Tennessee, one brother, Owen and Rita Dake of Mountain Grove, Missouri, six grandchildren, Jason Dake and wife, Crystal, of Springfield, Missouri, Merritt Dake and wife, Lauren, of Little Rock, Arkansas, Emily Worcester and husband, John, of Springfield, Missouri, Miles Dake and wife, Meredith, of Denver, Colorado, Anne-Katherine Dake and fiancé, Garrett, of Rogers, Arkansas, and Evan Dake and friend, Emily, of Columbia, Illinois, and seven great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Margaret, James, Henry, Walter, Zadie, and Braden.
