Jack Roy Moore

September 16, 1919 — October 8, 2008

Jack Roy Moore, son of the late Tom and Ada (Rich) Moore, was born on September 16, 1919 in West Plains, Missouri and departed this life suddenly on October 8, 2008 at his residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. He was 89 years and 23 days of age.
Jack grew up and attended school in the West Plains area. He was united in marriage to Iantha Mary Wyrick in 1940. Three children were born to this union. They made their home in the Mtn. Grove area for many years.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He entered the service on October 29, 1942, where he served in the Asia Pacific Campaign and was honorably discharged on February 1, 1946.
Jack was a dairy farmer and later a beef farmer. He also worked for Dairy Farmers of America and before his retirement he enjoyed selling real estate.
He was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mtn. Grove where he taught Sunday School for many years and was also active in the Methodist Men.
He enjoyed working outdoors, spending time with his family, and visiting with his many friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his loving wife of seventy years: Iantha Moore; two sons: Joseph Moore and his wife, Rebecca, and Phillip Moore; one daughter: Susan Williams, all of Mtn. Grove; two sisters: Mary Phillips of Lodi, California and Louise Hill of Pine Grove, California; one granddaughter: Sarah Ann Moore; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Jack Moore were held Monday, October 13, 2:00 PM in the Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Montgomery officiating. Musical selections were “Amazing Grace,” “Fairest Lord Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art.” Myra Walker served as musician. Pallbearers were Jim Burke, James Payton, Don Howerton, Wallace Greenfield, Dave Whitehill, and Gene Clary. Rev. Jim McQueen served as honorary pallbearer. Burial was in the Stubbs Cemetery with Full Military Honors proved by the American Legion and the Military Funeral Detail with Jared Moore serving as bugler. Arrangements and services were under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.

Monday, October 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church of Mtn. Grove, MO.
Visitation:
Monday, October 13, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. also in the church.
Burial:
Stubbs Cemetery, near Mtn. Grove, MO, with Full Military Honors.
