James Walter Hardin

February 21, 1931 — November 10, 2019

James “Jim” Walter Hardin, son of the late Coleman David and Ode Missouri (Bridges) Hardin, was born February 21, 1931, in West Plains, Missouri, and passed away November 10, 2019, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He 88 years, 8 months, and 20 days of age.

At the age of 11, James was injured in a baseball game that left him with a fused right knee. While some would have considered this a handicap, he did not. He played baseball and basketball in high school and never let it slow him down. James moved to Wichita, Kansas, and worked for Boeing building instrument panels for airplanes. He later transitioned into construction work. While living in Wichita, James met Vivian Schudy. They were married June 4, 1955, and were happily married for 48 years.

In 1960, they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. James was framing houses and eventually started his own framing company. He later started his own construction company that became known for building high quality custom homes. He later moved into commercial construction where he was known for his attention to detail and high standards.

James enjoyed fly fishing, deer and elk hunting, camping, and had a love of the outdoors in general. He enjoyed a good western novel. He was a competitive bowler and enjoyed a good game of pool. He will be sincerely missed.

Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian, his siblings Lee Hardin, Vera Taylor, Roy Hardin, Truman Hardin, Joseph C. Hardin, and Franklin Hardin.

James is survived by his sisters, Veda Roets and Susan Austin, his sons, Tony Hardin and Terry Hardin, and his grandchildren, Trevor and Twila Hardin.
