Jason 'Bacon' Cayne Thornton

Jason Bacon Thornton, son of Timothy Thornton and Glenda (Dobbs) Scott, was born on August 29, 1974, in Davenport, Iowa, and departed this life on January 15, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was 41 years, 4 months, and 17 days of age.
Bacon attended early elementary school mainly in Buffalo, Iowa, some in Skyline, Missouri, and junior high at Liberty Faith in Norwood, Missouri. He then attended high school and graduated from Norwood High School.
Bacon was united in marriage to Melissa Ellis on May 20, 2015, in Cabool, Missouri.
Bacon loved being outdoors, going fishing, grilling, making Uncle Bacons BBQ Sauce, and sports. He attended First Day Free Will Baptist Church in Cabool, Missouri. Bacon loved the Lord and had a passion for his puppet ministry. His goal in life was to make sure he taught everyone about Jesus and prayed for everyone to know Jesus.
Bacon was preceded in death by two grandfathers: Hanford Sonny Dobbs and Glen Thornton; two step-grandfathers: Leon L. Patterson and Bob Scott; and grandmother: Lois Dobbs.
He is survived by his wife: Melissa (Ellis) Thornton of the home; his father Timothy Thornton Sr.; step-father and mother: Jerry and Glenda Scott; grandmother: Wilda Pat Patterson of Molene, Illinois; step-grandmother: Zelpha Scott; three sons: Bryce Thornton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and J.T. Thornton of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and one son due in May; one step-son: Conner Ross; two step-daughters: Addy and Kenzie of Mountain Grove, Missouri; six brothers: Les Duncan of Davenport, Iowa, Tim Thornton II and his wife, Heidi, of Norwood, Missouri, Adam Thornton and his wife, Ruthie, of Buffalo, Iowa, Jeff Thornton of Buffalo, Missouri, Jon Thornton of Buffalo, Missouri, and Jake Scott of Rogersville, Missouri; one sister: Nasha Lambert of Davenport, Iowa; numerous aunts and uncles; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other extended family members and friends.


Visitation: Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Chapel.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel.

Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery
