Jay Dee Tapp

May 17, 1955 — January 21, 2011

Jay Dee Tapp, son of the late Charles Van and Eunice Charlene (Edwards) Tapp, was born on May 17, 1955 at Cabool, Missouri and passed from this earthly life into the eternal he longed to be a part of on January 21, 2011 at his home near Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 55 years of age.

Jay Dee grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1973. He was united in marriage to Nancy Ann Reed on April 12, 1975. This union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Kris and Vanilyn.

Jay Dee accepted Jesus and was baptized at an early age at Glendale Freewill Baptist Church. His relationship with the Father was always important to him and he openly shared Jesus with everyone.

He was a special man, beloved husband, wonderful daddy, grandpa, son, favorite brother and great friend and neighbor. For a man of small stature and unique personality, he had the heart and mind of a lion. No job was too big, he could start on a hopeless situation and make it happen. He loved fiercely, believed strongly, and was there when you needed him. He gave everyone a chance and you knew exactly how he felt and what he thought. The words “I love you” came easily for him. He was a creator and restorer. He built a beautiful physical home but also the emotional home for those that were blessed to share his life. He created a family, that included extended, that will more than survive the storms of life. He took an old house that seemed worthless and turned it into something spectacular. His creativity knew no bounds.

We, his family are so thankful for the blessing he was to each of us. To have shared life with him certainly wasn’t boring. We are going to miss him deeply but are thankful for everyday we had. We know we will be together again.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Survivors are his life’s love of thirty-five years: Nancy Tapp of their home; his daughters and sons-in-law: Kris and Bobby Hayes of Bucyrus, Missouri and Vanilyn and Tommy Cooper of Mtn. Grove; nine grandchildren: Jon, Adale, Ellie, Shai, and her husband, Shane, Kyler, TyAnn and her husband, Shane, and Brody; four sisters; Nancy Davison of Clinton, Missouri, Carol Brewer and her husband, Brad, of Arlington, Texas, VeenetaGray and her husband, Billy, of Mtn. Grove, and Paula Phillips and her husband, Kevin, of Mtn. Grove; his special sisters and their spouses: Lori and Danny Lathrom of Mtn. Grove and Teena and Terry Bonnarens of the State of Pennsylvania; his 2nd mother: Lois Reed of Mtn. Grove; aunts, uncles; nephews; nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him.

One of Jay Dee’s greatest desires was that everyone he knew would come to know Jesus and experience the relationship he had with the Lord. One of things Jay shared often was “you know where I’ll be.”
