Jimmie Earl Ogletree

May 12, 1939 — February 9, 2010

Jimmie E. Ogletree was born on May 12, 1939 in Olton, Texas to Luther “Luke” E. and Gladys (Goodwin) Ogletree. He died in his home on February 9, 2010 from an apparent heart attack.
Jim was a member of the Class of 1957 at Muleshoe High School in Muleshoe, Texas. He served in the United States Army from January 3, 1962 to December 5, 1963 in the 20th Artillery 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized). For a short time, he was a member of the American Legion Post 30 in Mtn. Grove.
After serving in the Army, Jim moved to Mtn. Grove and worked as a dairy and beef farmer until ill health prevented his continuing those activities. However, he had a deep love for raising cattle and always talked his son into pasturing a few calves at his place. He loved working in wood; family and friends treasure his furniture, picture frames and boxes. His grandchildren are especially fond of the cart he made so that they could all four have lawn mower rides at the same time. As long as his health permitted, Jim loved fishing the lakes, streams, and ponds of the Ozarks. A dunking in the frigid waters of the Gasconade while gigging was certainly not a deterrent; it just made a good story for the next day.
He married Norma Malone on June 14, 1969. They have two children and four grandchildren.
Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim is survived by his wife, Norma; his son: Jeff Ogletree and his wife, Jennifer and their children, Joel, Jenna and Joshua of Norwood, Missouri; his daughter: Jennifer Foresythe and her daughter, Cassidie of Mtn. Grove; two brothers: Joe Ogletree and his wife, Judy, and Dale Ogletree and his wife, Chris, all of Mtn. Grove; two sisters: Wanda Best and her husband, Ken of Murrieta, California, and Betty Morrison and her husband, Billy, of Wheeler, Texas; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
