Joe Andrew Calhoun

Joe Andrew Calhoun, son of Harold and Pearl (Keaton) Calhoun, was born on April 19, 1938 in Norwood, Missouri, and went home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2008 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at 70 years of age.
Pearl (Keaton) Calhoun departed this life as a young mother leaving small children, whom were later raised by their step-mother, Denisha (Keaton) Calhoun.
Joe was raised in Wright County and never lost his love for the Missouri hills of his childhood and the simple life he experienced growing up on a farm.
He received the Lord as his Savior at a young age during Vacation Bible School in Norwood, Missouri.
Joe was united in marriage to his life-long love, Lodema Carol Owens on July 26, 1959 at the Rock Chapel Church north of Norwood, Missouri. Three sons were born to this union.
He was a devoted husband, father, and loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a very hard-working and unselfish man who loved his family and community. He was known by many and a friend to all.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Ray Calhoun; and by one sister: Faye Pearman.
He is survived by his loving wife: Lodema Calhoun of Mtn. Grove; his sons and daughters-in-law: Kendall and Cindy Calhoun of Allen, Texas, Lyndall and Cathy Calhoun of Nixa, Missouri, and Wendall and Jenny Calhoun of Houston, Missouri; six brothers: Paul Calhoun of Willard, Missouri, John Calhoun of Taneyville, Missouri, Ivan Calhoun of Mtn. Grove, Lonnie Calhoun of Oldfield, Missouri, Glen Calhoun of Hollywood, Florida, and Terry Calhoun of Springfield, Missouri; three sisters: Doris Richardson of Norwood, Missouri, Fern (Smith) Moore of Norwood, Missouri, and Becky Calhoun-Cantara of Reno, Nevada; a cousin whom he was raised with: Dottie Rowland of Haywood, California; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him, but his love remains in the hearts of all who knew him.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Monday, June 16, 2008 from 7:00 -8:00 PM in the Chapel.
