Joe Quick

Joe Howard Quick, son of Al Quick and Barbara Bryan-Holt, was born May 26, 1964, in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life September 28, 2021, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of 57 years, 4 months, and 2 days.

Joe was born in Springfield and raised in Mansfield, where he graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1983. He attended Central Bible College in the fall of 1983. He graduated from Drury University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in History.

Joe gave his life to Jesus Christ during his teen years while he attended the Mansfield Full Gospel Church.

After multiple career opportunities and pursuits, Joe was employed the past 22 years at Emerson/Copeland in Ava, Missouri.

He loved spending time with family and friends most of all. Joe’s children, Nathan and Natalie, were the apple of his eye. He was united in marriage to Kristin Kaye Calhoun on November 12, 2009. In the years since he and Kristin have been married, he gained two more children, Tyler and Lydia. He loved all of them beyond anything else in this world. He had an incredible relationship with his soulmate, Kristin, and left a love note for her every day of their lives together.

Joe’s humor and infectious personality brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. His ability to connect with young people is a gift that hundreds were blessed to receive. His loving nature, generosity, and often funny way of relating to them made him special to every one of them. He dedicated much of his life’s work to help nieces, nephews, and so many others to provide hope, guidance, and a belief that they can meet and achieve anything in life.

Several of Joe’s passions in life included different sports. He played football for his dad, Al, as a member of the original Mansfield Mighty Mites. He played basketball and baseball for Fordland and Mansfield High Schools. He was a member of the Central Bible College men’s basketball team that finished 3rd nationally in the National Christian College Athletic Association in 1983-84. He was a member of the Mansfield Merchants Semi-Pro baseball team and played for several softball and independent basketball teams. He was a huge fan of Alabama football, Kansas basketball, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and had a secret crush on Larry Bird. He loved attending countless games including the Blue & Gold Tournament, was recognized as a member of the Legends of the Hardwood, and inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Mansfield baseball team. He directed youth sport teams for the baseball team, Roll Tide, the Wolfpack basketball squad who achieved a 134-29 record, and coached the Mansfield Middle School girls’ basketball team, and boys’ baseball team.

He loved to hunt and fish with his brothers. He created and celebrated JoeManda day. Joe and his family loved poker night and any card games they could play. He loved to cook and provide meals for anyone and everyone.

Joe was recognized and honored by the City of Mansfield in 1986 for assisting a Mansfield police officer during a criminal attack on the patrolman. He disarmed and help apprehend the attacker while putting his own life in jeopardy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara. Joe is survived by his dad, Al Quick, and wife, Sally; wife, Kristin; sons, Nathan Quick and Tyler Young; daughters, Natalie Quick and fiancé, Trenton Emerick, and Lydia Wilson; brothers, Alan Quick, Richter Quick and wife, Teri, Glenn Quick and wife, Shari, Bobby Quick, Darrell Quick, Ray Holt, Jr. and wife, Marci; sisters, Alicia Quick, Teresa Jarrett and husband, Rick, April Quick, Debbie Miller, and Judy Williamson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many, friends.

Joe has influenced every one of us in a positive way and as he watches us from heaven, please honor him by following his wise advice and help make a positive difference for you, family, and friends.
