John Dawson

December 25, 1933 — September 21, 2019

John Richard Dawson, son of the late Harry and Medie Dawson, was born December 25, 1933, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and departed this life September 21, 2019, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years, 8 months, and 27 days of age.

John was united in marriage to Doris Jean (Sally) Shelton and to this union, six children were born. John was later married to Marsha Lynn Miller on May 14, 2005. Together they had nine children.

John loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

John worked at Reeds Cattle Hauling and then later retired from the City of Mountain Grove where he had worked on the street department for twenty-two years. John also was a volunteer firefighter for many years.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Medie Dawson, his late wife, Doris Jean Dawson, his son, Richard Dawson, his mother-in-law, Mary Miller, his daughter-in-law, NaTasha Miller, his brother, Clyde Dawson, and his sisters, Ida and Dolly.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Dawson of their home, and eight children, John Paul Dawson and his wife, Diane, Carl Dawson and his wife, Debbie, Patricia Naugle and her husband, Bill, all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Julie Dawson and her companion, Tom, of Fordland, Missouri, Myra Karges and her husband, Jordan, Chad Miller and his wife, Cassie, Heather Beal and her husband, Jay, all of Mountain grove, Missouri, and Steven Miller and his wife, Dayna, of Seymour, Missouri, many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, four brothers, Jack, Dallas, Jerry, and Bill, three sisters, Bonnie, Faye, and Dee, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Three Rivers Hospice for their support throughout this difficult time.
