Judy Ann (Volner) Richmond

May 3, 1949 — August 11, 2017

Judy Ann (Volner) Richmond, daughter of the late Lon Harvey and Delcie Mae (Skaggs) Volner, was born May 3, 1949 in Burlington Junction, Missouri, and departed this life August 11, 2017 at her home in Doniphan, Missouri. She was 68 years, 3 months, and 8 days of age.

Judy grew up around the Murr community near Mountain Grove, Missouri, and attended Murr School. She married Arnold Parsons. Nine children were born to this union: Junior, Wayne, Rick, Judy, Delcie, Trish, Janice, Freddy, and Tonya. The family later moved to Doniphan, Missouri.

Judy loved to garden and had the ability to grow anything. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and the birds that would fly into her yard to make homes in her many birdhouses. Judy also loved to cook and bake for her family. Dishes that came from her kitchen were almost always homemade. She enjoyed arts and crafts in her spare time and liked to sew gifts and clothing by hand for her family and curtains for her home.

After her sister, Naomi, passed away, Judy transplanted a special tree from Naomi’s yard to her own yard. She named the tree after her sister, and took special care of it.

Judy especially loved her dog, Redgie. She was an important part of her life and she worried about her if she ever had to be away.

Besides her parents, Judy was preceded in death by two brothers, Dearl and Carl, two sisters, Lily Mae and Naomi, and by a great-grandson, Harlow Parsons.

She is survived by nine children, Junior Parsons (Tammy), Wayne Parsons, and Rick Parsons (Nikki) all of Doniphan, Missouri, Judy Thacker (Richard) of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Delcie Slayton (John), Trish Borders (Mike Eugene), and Janice Murray (Danny) all of Doniphan, Missouri, Freddy Parsons (Stacy) of Stroud, Oklahoma, and Tonya Parsons of Doniphan, Missouri, her boyfriend, Bill Helms, of eighteen years, of Doniphan, Missouri, seven brothers, Bob Volner (Linda) of Harlem, Georgia, Roy Volner of Hartville, Missouri, Bill Volner of Fox, Arkansas, Jessie Volner (Brenda) of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Lynn Volner (Kay) of Mountain View, Missouri, Hubert Volner of Hartville, Missouri, and Edd Volner of Mountain View, Missouri, five sisters, Ruth Foster (Jerry) of Viola, Arkansas, Faye Parsons (Pete) of Mountain View, Missouri, Reta Young of Mountain View, Missouri, Irene Stallsworth (Clifford) of Arroll, Missouri, and Patsy Stallsworth (Donald) of Mountain View, Missouri, thirty grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her.
