June Forrest

July 21, 1957 — December 20, 2021

Phyllis “June” Lincoln Forrest was born in Sidney, Nebraska, on July 21, 1957, in the backseat of a car on the way to the hospital and passed away suddenly, at the age of 64, on December 20, 2021. June was adopted and raised by Ralph and Doris Flageolle at the age of 14, and they loved and cared for her as one of their own children.

June graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1975, and on June 17, 1977, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard “Rick” Lynn Forrest. There were three children born to their loving union: Richard Ivan, Miranda June, and Shane Monroe.

In 1990, Rick and June bought the family business from Rick’s parents and ran Forrest Meat Processing together for over 23 years. Rick and June loved to travel with family and friends. They loved to hunt, boat, and be outdoors.

After Rick’s passing in 2013, June enjoyed spending time with her sisters and especially enjoyed time at the lake and spontaneous adventures with her best friend, Linda. She loved her dog, Ziggy, and took him everywhere! June loved to collect many things: all things the color purple, butterflies, angels, “flirtalires” (fleur-de-lis), clothes, shoes, jewelry, and cast iron. She loved to take girls trips with “her girls”. If you knew June, you knew she was strong-willed, stubborn, and ornery. She loved arguing with her son-in-law, John. Above all, June was kind-hearted, loving, and a natural caregiver. She loved Jesus, her family, people, and children more than anything. She never met a stranger and always had a hug to share.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Rick, an infant son, Richard Ivan Forrest, her parents, Ralph and Doris Flageolle, her father-in-law, Buck Forrest, and an infant grandchild.

June is survived by her daughter, Miranda June Hooker and her husband, John, and their children, Dylan, Leah, Brandt and Andrew, a son, Shane Forrest and his wife and their child, Bryar, her great-grandchildren, Ally, Bryston, Kendall, and Ryder (arriving January 2022), her mother-in-law, Delta Forrest, who was very special to her, her sisters, Lois Flageolle, Janice Dibbens, Regina Taylor and her husband, Dan, Kim Homer and her husband, David, and her brother, Stan Flageolle and wife, Barb, and a host of biological siblings. June had a close relationship with several of her numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Rondo, who made her evenings with his phone calls every night at 8 p.m. June touched the lives of many who called her their second mom. June loved her bonus kids, and they would do anything for their “Mama June”. June is also survived by many members of Rick’s family who she called her own.

June leaves behind many, many family members (both by birth and by choice) and many friends who will mourn the loss of their “June Bug”.
