Kathy Marquis

November 26, 1954 — January 7, 2021

Kathryn Sue (Morris) Marquis was born November 26, 1954, to Junior and Verda Morris in Springfield, Missouri. She passed away January 7, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at age 66.

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” – Proverbs 31:10.

How can you begin to tell of the life of such a great woman? There are not enough words to give her the honor that she deserves. Kathy was and still is a beacon that shines bright in this dark world. She lived her life always believing no matter what she was going through that there was hope that tomorrow would always be a better day. She spoke with a voice full of cheer. She was one of the strongest women we have ever known. She loved her husband, family and friends and wanted to spend her life making them happy.

Even during her greatest difficulties with her health, she never lost her desire to live. One of her great nephews, when he was a little boy, referred to her as “the woman that just wants to live.” She fought hard and long to make that a reality.

“No one is ever truly gone until they are forgotten.” Kathy will never be forgotten even though she is not here in body today, she will live on in all of us and our greatest memories of her. She would want her legacy to be to never lose hope in your darkest times. Faith in God and a strong love for life and family will see you through every time.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Verda Morris, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Mildred Marquis, her brother-in-law, Roger Marquis, her nephews, Curtis Cummins and Darrin Marquis and niece, Debbie Marquis, her guardian angel, Ruby Rush, and her best friend, Patsy King.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dennis Marquis, of their home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, her children, Mia Harris and her husband, David, of West Plains, Missouri, Jon Paul Marquis and his wife, Julie, of West Plains, Missouri, and Juleah Marquis and her companion, Daniel Monfils, of Springfield, Missouri, her grandchildren, Madilyn Harris, Malia Harris, Bailey Marquis, and Sawyer Marquis, her siblings, Jamie Morris and his wife, Saundra, Brenda Rowe and her husband, Bob, Karen Brown and her husband, Doug, Debbie Doran and her husband, Richard, Pamela Kane and her husband, John, Vickie Vinson and her husband, Randy, Mike Morris, Melisa Morris, and Danny Morris and his wife, Heather, her sister-in-law, Carol Cummins, her brother-in-law, Lester Davis and his wife, Patty, many nieces, nephews, and loved neighbors and friends in the community who will miss her.
