Lee Roy Kelley

August 1, 1931 — July 14, 2011

Lee Roy Kelley, son of the late Samuel E. and Neva L. (Souder) Kelley, was born on August 1, 1931 in Lubbock, Texas and passed away on July 14, 2011 in the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri, following a short illness. He was 79 years, 11 months and 13 days of age.

Lee Roy’s family was share croppers and at the age of eight, he moved with his family to Norco, California. At nineteen years of age, Lee Roy joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 16, 1954 as a Staff Sergeant.

Lee Roy and his brother, Glen, worked at McCullah Tool Company that serviced oil wells in California until they could earn enough money to move to Missouri in 1959. They purchased property and became dairy farmers for many years.

He was united in marriage to Alice Elizabeth Robertson on December 20, 1963 in Texas County, Missouri. Three children were born to this union. They raised their family near Cabool on the family farm.

He enjoyed working on his farm, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: William J. Kelley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years: Alice Kelley of their home; one son: Samuel Kelley and his wife, Tracy, of Cabool, Missouri; two daughters: Lesa Morris and her husband, Clyde, of Ava, Missouri, and Mary Roderick and her husband, Kevin, of Cabool, Missouri; one brother: Glen Kelley of Huggins, Missouri; one sister: Flora Westmoreland of Olive Branch, Mississippi; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service:
Thursday, July 21st at 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
