Lela L. Hardin

September 5, 1933 — January 18, 2007

Lela Loritta Hardin, daughter of the late Earl Foster and Lois (Lucas) Dennis, was born on September 5, 1933 in Wright County, Missouri and departed this life on January 18, 2007 in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 73 years, 4 months, and 13 days of age.
Lela grew up in Wright County, north of Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Jack Strube in February of 1951. One son was born to this union. They made their home in Michigan for a short time before returning to Mtn. Grove in 1970. They operated a service station in Mtn. Grove until Jack’s passing in 1978.
Lela was married to Harold Hardin in October of 1998 in Mtn. Grove where they made their home on Richards Drive.
Lela loved to sew, quilt, and visit with her friends and family. She and Harold enjoyed traveling and made several trips before her health started failing. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband: Harold Hardin of their home; one son: Jeff Strube of Mtn. Grove; one daughter, Julie Quiros of Miami, Florida; three brothers and their wives: Leon and Angilee Dennis of La Cygne, Kansas, Wendell and Sharon Dennis of Overland Park, Kansas, and Randall and Jan Dennis of West Plains, Missouri; one sister and her husband: Wanda and Ed Hardy of Cabool, Missouri; four grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Lela Hardin were held Monday, January 22, 11:00 AM in the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Turner officiating. Ronald and Wilma Turner sang “In The Garden,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “Sheltered In The Arms of God.” Pallbearers were Dale Hardin, Daniel Dennis, Rodney Dennis, Robbie Strube, Lee Bass, and Randy Massengale. Honorary pallbearers were Ura Hardin and Tim Hardy. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
