Lela Mae Caldwell

July 19, 1917 — September 4, 2010

Lela Mae Caldwell, daughter of the late Andrew Jackson “Dutch” and Paria (Sisco) Strunk, was born on July 19, 1917 in Wright County, Missouri and departed this life on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at her residence following a long illness. She was 93 years, 1 month and 16 days of age.
Lela grew up and attended school in Wright County. She was united in marriage to John C. Caldwell on April 12, 1941 in Houston, Missouri. Two children were born to this union. Mr. Caldwell passed away on April 5, 1983.
Lela was a true homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family. She also liked gardening, quilting, and visiting with her many friends.
She was saved and baptized at a young age. She was a charter member of the Pleasant Hill Church where she enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Bill, Andy, and Don Strunk; and by two sisters: Bertha Rook and Dorothy Rader.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: J.C. and Judy Caldwell of Mtn. Grove; her daughter and son-in-law: Mable and Junior Wehrer of Norwood, Missouri; four grandchildren: Brenda Shannon, Violet Watson, Tammy Cudworth and Chris Wehrer; ten great-grandchildren: Kayla Drake, Paul Shannon, Grant Watson, Tyler Watson, Jaime Kelly, Haley Watson, Brianna Cudworth, Brooke Cudworth, Tyler Wehrer and Braden Wehrer; ten great-great-grandchildren: Ethan Drake, Katlyn Drake, Noah Drake, Kendal Drake, Jaxon Kelly, Rowen Kelly, Taylor Watson, Alyssa Watson, Luke Watson and Brailey Shannon ; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.


Funeral Services:
Tuesday, September 7th, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Tuesday, September 7th, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM before the service in the funeral home.

Strunk Cemetery
