Lela May Ellis

Lela May (Hicks) Ellis, daughter of the late Delmar Joel and Mary Ann (Reser) Hicks, was born December 8, 1943, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and passed away December 25, 2017, at her residence in Lynchburg, Missouri. She was 74 years and 17 days of age.

Lela grew up in California and Missouri. She met and fell in love with Malvin Dean Ellis. They were united in marriage on March 26, 1960 at the home of Rev. W.H. Stephens in Mountain Grove, Missouri. To this union four children were born, Mark, Marty, Deanna, and Tracy.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, growing flowers, and playing cards and games with her family. Lela loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her family. Her family says she was ‘one good cook’.

Besides her parents, Lela is preceded in death by an infant son, Marty, and an infant brother.

She is survived by her husband, Malvin Ellis; one son, Mark Ellis and his wife, Suzanne; two daughters, Deanna Edwards and her husband, Keith, and Tracy Schwert and her husband, Kent; eight grandchildren, Brandy, Travis, Whitney, Mason, Shaye, Aaron, Braxton, and Conner; seven great-grandchildren, Corbin, Tristan, Wyatt, Nebraska, Trevor, Zoey, and Jeremiah; five brothers and one sister; many nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends who will miss her very much.
