Leroy Goldsmith

March 22, 1945 — July 25, 2018

Sammy Leroy Goldsmith, son of the late Roy Eldon and Estil Imagene (Hurt) Goldsmith, was born March 22, 1945, in Wright County, Missouri, and departed this life July 25, 2018, in Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. He was 73 years, 4 months, and 3 days of age.

Leroy grew up in Wright County and graduated from Plato High School in 1963. He married Mary “Ann” Grimes July 17, 1965, in Houston, Missouri. Two children were born to this union.
Leroy worked on his dairy and beef farm and worked as a truck driver for most of his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also enjoyed being involved in tractor pulls, go cart and motorcycle races, showing quarter horses, tournament fishing, and going to auctions. Leroy lived life to the fullest. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their events. Wherever Leroy went, he found someone to visit with and loved every minute of it.

Besides his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Goldsmith, one sister, Kathy Goldsmith, one niece, Kim Goldsmith, and one nephew, Jeremy Hooper.

He is survived by his wife of their home north of Mountain Grove, Ann Goldsmith, one son, Eddie Goldsmith and his wife, Amy, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one daughter, Jaclyn Dow and her husband, Mike, of Lebanon, Missouri, one brother, Rodney Barnes and his wife, Angela, of Manes, Missouri, one sister, Beverly Hooper and her husband, Stanley, of Pacific, Missouri, one brother-in-law, Lee Grimes of Chickasha, Oklahoma, six grandchildren, Joslyn, Bella, Zack, and Katie Goldsmith, Grace and Audrey Dow, and other relatives, neighbors, and friends who will greatly miss him.
