Lois Marie (Van De Venter) Mccoy

March 13, 1923 — July 14, 2011

Lois Marie McCoy, 88, was called to her eternal home on July 14, 2011. Having confessed her faith in Jesus Christ, Lois was baptized at the age of fifteen.
She was born on March 13, 1923 in Waterloo, Iowa. Lois was one of eight children born to Earl Henry and Hazel Marie (Starks) Van De Venter, who preceded her in death along with four brothers: Elmer, Ronald, Paul, and Cecil.
Lois was married to Ezra McCoy for forty-one years before he died in 1982.
She is survived by three children: Dean, of Perryville, Indiana, Van and his wife, Beverly, of Springfield, Missouri, and Marilee Earle and her husband, Bill, of Huddleston, Virginia; two sisters: Mildred McCoy and her husband, Henry, of Lynchburg, Missouri, and Velva Loy of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one brother: Herbert Van De Venter of Mapleton, Oregon, a widowed sister-in-law: Wilma Van De Venter; eight grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
Lois’ family was active in the Christian Churches where they lived: Trenton, Plato, and Mtn. Grove.
She became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Plato in 1971 and was an active member for forty years, including an appointment as the District Deputy Grand Matron of the 46th District of the Grand Chapter of Missouri. Her work career included many years as a civil servant at Fort Leonard Wood, and eight years as a secretary in the Mtn. Grove School system.
Lois was a special lady and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
