Lonnie Glen Robertson

June 18, 1928 — August 5, 2007

Lonnie Glen Robertson, son of the late Glen Adam and Martha Ann (Halliburton) Robertson, was born on June 18, 1928 near the Bendavis, Missouri community and departed this life on August 5, 2007 in the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri, following a short battle with cancer, at 79 years of age.
Lonnie grew up on a farm near Bendavis and attended Mtn. Grove High School where he participated in football and track.He graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1947.
Lonnie was united in marriage to Ruby Pauline McGownd on September 18, 1948. Two daughters, Pamela and Teresa, were born to this union. Lonnie and Pauline raised their daughters on their Bendavis farm where Lonnie worked a variety of jobs, including teaching in rural schools, dairy farming, and mail carrying. He is best remembered for his trailer building and welding business on his farm.
He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 when he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
He was converted and baptized at a young age and was a faithful member of the New Rock Springs Freewill Baptist Church. When he and Pauline moved to Mtn. Grove, they became members of the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church.
Lonnie was happiest when he was in his shop tinkering with his wood working or in his garden watching his vegetables grow. He was an avid pool player, loved gospel music, and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He was also extremely proud to be a “Winter Texan” spending the last thirteen winters in San Juan, Texas avoiding the Missouri cold. Lonnie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his friends and relatives he left behind.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Ralph Robertson.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-nine years: Pauline Robertson of their home; his daughters and sons-in-law: Pamela and Robert Tate of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Teresa and Curtis Dowden of Bendavis, Missouri; one granddaughter: Krista Tate of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; three grandsons: Philip Dowden of Joplin, Missouri, Zachary Tate of Springfield, Missouri, and Jordan Dowden of Springfield, Missouri; four brothers and three sisters: Austin and Nancy Robertson of Columbia, Missouri, Huel and Gloria Robertson of Houston, Missouri, Huan Campbell of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Glenet and Jim Quinn of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Bill and Linda Robertson of Wilmington, North Carolina, Alice and Wendell McCall of Cabool, Missouri, and Rupert and Donna Robertson of St. Charles, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
