Loretta Faye Mcintosh

August 29, 1940 — February 20, 2020

Loretta McIntosh, daughter of the late Willis Lee and Lola (McAdams) Stacy, was born August 29, 1940, in Bradford, Arkansas, and passed away peacefully February 20, 2020, in her son’s home in Macomb, Missouri. She was 79 years, 5 months, and 22 days of age.

In 1949, when Loretta was nine, her father was killed in a coal mine accident in Wyoming. After her father’s death, her family moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri.

Loretta graduated Valedictorian from Mountain Grove High School in 1958. Loretta was working at Panther Freeze in Mountain Grove when she met James “Jim” Floyd McIntosh. She won Jim’s heart with a homemade cherry pie which he later learned was made by her mother. Also while they were dating, Loretta entered the Missouri Maid of Milk pageant in Branson. Jim was happy when she earned first-runner-up instead of winning because the winner wasn’t supposed to get married during her year long reign. Loretta and Jim were married October 24, 1958, in Macomb, Missouri. Two children were born to this union, Lora and Cody. In the 1970’s, the family welcomed Wilma McIntosh into their home to stay with them and she became a part of their family.

After graduation, Loretta went to secretarial college and then began working for Mountain Grove Schools and continued until her car accident in 1995. Loretta and Jim raised their family on a farm in Macomb and when she wasn’t working, Loretta was busy being a farm wife and mother, raising a garden, reading, and sewing. They also enjoyed some small family vacations together. She enjoyed being active at church, teaching children’s Bible Drill classes and ladies adult Sunday School classes. Loretta and Jim became members of Corinth Baptist Church in the mid 1960’s, which remained their home church throughout their lives.

After her accident which drastically changed her life, Loretta enjoyed working puzzle books, watching television, and attending church. Jim passed away March 1, 2008. Loretta resided with her son, Cody, until her passing.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Lola Stacy, and by her husband, Jim McIntosh.

She is survived by her two children, Lora Clampitt and her husband, Ed, of Wichita, Kansas, her son, Cody McIntosh of Macomb, Missouri, and his fiancé, Wanda Freeman of Salem, Arkansas, her foster daughter, Wilma Lancaster and her husband, Ron, of Mansfield, Missouri, one brother, Gary Stacy and his wife, Bonnie, of Jerome, Idaho, one sister, Brenda Pridemore of Mountain Grove, Missouri, four grandchildren, Kayla Swensen and her husband, Stephen, Chase McIntosh, Britt Clampitt, and Brooke Newton Dennis, two great-grandchildren, Sailor Swenson and Blaine Wallace, and other relatives and friends who will miss her.
