Louise Eudora (Cumbie) Smith

January 27, 1924 — July 8, 2011

Louise Eudora Smith, daughter of the late Joseph Walker and Laura S. (Drake) Cumbie, was born on January 27, 1924 in Osceda, Arkansas and passed away on July 8, 2011 in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri, at 87 years of age.
When you hear Louise Smith, you hear of a woman who put her family first. She worked hard for years to take care of her two children. She loved them very much but was also firm with them. She made sure they knew the words, respect, honesty, trustworthy, love & understanding. She taught them to be strong, to work hard & stand up for yourself. She instilled that in her grandchildren also. She had a big heart that she would give you her shirt off her back if you needed it. She took great pride in her family for she knew they were growing up right & raising their children with her same standards. She may have been hard on the outside to some people, but to her family, she was a very loving friend, mother & grandmother who will be missed.
She is survived by her son: John W. Clark of Taylorsville, Kentucky; her daughter: Carolyn L. Howard of Newalla, Oklahoma; one sister; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
