Lucille Johnston

November 17, 1933 — October 17, 2021

Lucille Steinert Johnston, daughter of the late Charles Clyde Steinert and Birdie Allie Jones, was born November 17, 1933, in Macomb, Missouri, and departed this life on October 17, 2021, in Olathe, Kansas, at the age of eighty-seven years and eleven months.

She grew up around Macomb and graduated from Norwood High School in 1951. On June 20, 1953, she was united in marriage to Andrew Johnston. They were blessed with two children, Patricia Luanne (Johnston) Tripp and Walter Andrew Johnston, and were together 52 years before Andrew passed away on August 15, 2005.

Lucille loved the Lord. She was saved at an early age and was baptized along with her husband and children. She always had a strong faith in the Lord and never doubted that he died for our sins and rose again.

She was always busy. She loved her home and family and enjoyed cooking and the outside care of her lawn, garden and flowers. She was a very generous, friendly person. While raising her family, she worked for the United States Treasury for 27 years. She has gathered many friends along her journey here. She believed you had to cultivate friends like you do flowers, talk to them, encourage them and be a friend. Her little dog, Bridget (Bischon), has been a real companion and has given her many hours of company.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Charles Steinert and Dan Steinert. She leaves behind to miss her presence, pleasant smile and happy voice, her daughter, Patty (Doug) Tripp, her son, Wally (Jeanette) Johnston, three grandchildren, Andrea (Chip) Johnson, Lance (Melodi) Tripp, and Amber Asbury, eight great-grandchildren, Erin, Luke, and Eva Johnson, Gavin and Pierce Tripp, and Liv, Eden, and Maeven Asbury, a brother, Clyde Jr. (Alberta) Steinert, and many loved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
