Lyda Wheat

April 29, 1937 — September 4, 2021

Lyda Fay (Sloan) Wheat went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 4, 2021, at her home in Vanzant, Missouri, after a brief illness. She was 84 years old.

Lyda was born on April 29, 1937, at Topaz, Missouri, to Ora and Rozella Sloan. On May 25, 1954, she married B.E. (Jack) Wheat, son of Noah and Ethel Wheat, from Vanzant, Missouri. After they were married, they moved to Idaho where they lived and worked for a few years. In the late 50’s, they returned to Missouri where they made their home, worked, and raised their family.

Lyda was a Christian, and her faith was strong. She loved her family, going to church, reading, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, cooking, and tending to her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jack C. Wheat, grandson, Ryan Kutz, son-in-law, Bill Turnbull, her parents, two sisters, two brothers, two half-sisters, and one half-brother.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack, three daughters, Marcia Turnbull of Mansfield, Missouri, Sherry Pennell and husband, Monty, of Vanzant, Missouri, and Pam Wheat of Springfield, Missouri, four grandchildren, Angela Parker of Rolla, Missouri, Jennifer Bourgeois and husband, Fred, of Mansfield, Missouri, Nicole Patrick and husband, Christian, of Bastrop, Texas, and Michael Wheat and wife, Brandy, of Columbia, Missouri, three step-grandchildren, Garrett Pennell, Noah Pennell, and Ashtin Pennell all of Texas, seven great-grandchildren, Natosha Horn, Samantha Parker and Roy Allen Parker all from Idaho, Patience Hackett and Kambre Sauceda both from Texas, Waylon Wheat and Willow Wheat both from Columbia, Missouri, and one great-great granddaughter, Emma Horn of Idaho.

Lyda will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
