Mae Thompson

September 25, 1920 — November 26, 2007

Myrtle Mae Thompson, daughter of the late C.C. “Lum” and Mayme (Tetrick) Freeman, was born on September 25, 1920 in Blanche, Missouri, and passed away on November 26, 2007 in the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 87 years, 2 months, and 1 day of age.
Mae grew up in the Blanche Community and attended the Blackjack School. She was united in marriage to Lindon E. Thompson on March 23, 1955 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. Two children were born to this union.
Mae enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, picking blackberries, collecting rocks and watching wild birds. When you walked in her yard in the spring you could smell her fragrant roses and other flowers.
Mae was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. One of the most important features about Mae was her constant concern for others. Her entire life was devoted to serving people. She was a friend to everyone and some outside her own family called her “Grandma.”
She enjoyed attending the Lighthouse Church in Mtn. Grove and listening to Gospel music.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Lindon Thompson; two sisters: Ruby Freeman and Lena Rock; and by one brother: John O. Freeman.
She is survived by one son: Greg Thompson and his wife, Sherry, of Mtn. Grove; one daughter: Carol Beth Thompson of Mtn.
