Marlene Esther Ivie

January 4, 1939 — July 22, 2016

Marlene Esther Ivie, daughter of the late William August and Minnie Bertha (Strack) Schulte, was born on January 4, 1939, in Owensville, Missouri, and departed this life on July 22, 2016, at her home in Springfield, Missouri. She was 77 years, 6 months, and 19 days of age.

Marlene has resided in various towns, such as Owensville, Union, Mountain Grove, Arlington, Texas, and Springfield. She had many careers in her lifetime including Brown Shoe Company, Walmart, Mercy Hospital where she proudly volunteered her time, and they also owned The Flower Basket of Mountain Grove.

Marlene loved sitting on the back porch, playing her piano by ear, collecting salt and pepper shakers and Hull Pottery. She enjoyed caring for her flower gardens, going bowling, taking pictures, Branson shows, and traveling.

Marlene loved spending time with her husband, Harold, and their dog, Maggie Mae. They, along with her children, were always by her side. Especially the last few months as her health greatly declined. Marlenes children are forever grateful for Harold; for the amazing husband and stepfather he was, and for the love, compassion, and extraordinary care he gave Marlene, not only throughout their marriage, but definitely in the past few months.

No matter how bad Marlene felt, she never lost her beautiful smile. She had an undeniable strong faith and personal relationship with God, and reaffirmed her Faith in God with her son, Bobby.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her first husband: Hugo Schmitt, Jr.; two sisters: Mildred Schneider and Marcella Nigles; stepdaughter: Kim Ivie Blanchette; and granddaughter: Megan Wurtz.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Harold Ivie of the home; one son: Bobby Schmitt and his wife, Peggy, of Hartville, Missouri; two daughters: Debbie Settles and her husband, Robert, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Lori Wurtz and her husband, Jeff, of Liberty, Missouri; ten grandchildren: Preston Griffin and his wife, Shannon, Nathan Griffin and his wife, Melissa, Stetson Schmitt and his wife, Lauren, Chelsey Schmitt, Adam Richardson and his wife, Erin, Travis Branstetter and his wife, Shanda, Cody Branstetter and his wife, Kyndra, Madison Wurtz, Seth Wurtz, and Isaac Collins; nine great-grandchildren: Gracie Richardson, Scarlett Griffin, Gavin Griffin, Hallie Richardson, Brookelyn Griffin, Summer Griffin, Mackenzie Richardson, Luke Richardson, and Paislyn Branstetter; one brother: Melvin Schulte of Owensville, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her.

The family would like to thank all the Hospice nurses and staff for their kindness and caring work they provided. Thank you to all the family and friends for their thoughts and prayers.
