Mary Grace Taylor

October 20, 1926 — October 20, 2015

Mary Grace Taylor, daughter of the late Harvey and Della Elisabeth (Wilson) Wilson, was born on October 20, 1926 in Lowell, Indiana and departed this life on October 20, 2015 in Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove, Missouri at 89 years of age.
Mary grew up and went to school in Lowell, Indiana. Her family farmed and worked hard as they grew up during the Depression.
Mary married Jesse L. Taylor on December 1, 1942. Seven children were born to this union. The family lived on a farm in Hebron, Indiana and then moved to a large dairy farm in Crown Point, Indiana. When Jesses health began to deteriorate, the family moved to a smaller farm, north of Mountain Grove, Missouri, in 1962. Jesse passed away in 1963. Mary then went to work to provide for her children. She worked for Wades Cleaners, Antlers Caf, and Tinys Steak House. Their home burned in 1968, so Mary moved her family to town. She went to work at the Chicken Plant in Cabool, Missouri, and then worked for Brown Shoe Company. She retired from Brown Shoe when her health started failing and moved to her daughter and son-in-laws farm in Drury, Missouri. She was able to stay with her family for 25 years before her health needs required a nursing facility. The family greatly enjoyed the special time they had together.
Mary had many hobbies. She loved living on a farm and all of the blessings that came with farm life. She loved the animals and she was a wonderful gardener. She greatly enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She was an avid reader and a true Cardinals and Cubs fan. She also enjoyed going to church. She attended Mtn. Valley church while the family lived north of Mountain Grove. Then when she moved south of Mountain Grove, she attended Vanzant Baptist Church. Her church family and friends were an important part of her life.
Spending time with family was something that was special to Mary. She spent many hours fishing with her grandchildren, enjoying family gatherings, and having large family meals. Mary was an influence on many people. She blessed many lives and will be greatly missed.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse; five brothers: Russell, Charles, James, Paul, and Harvey Jr. Wilson; one sister: Lottie Such; and one son-in-law: Vern Tott.
She is survived by two sons: James Taylor of Seymour, Missouri, and William Taylor and his wife, Linda, of Hartville, Missouri; five daughters: Margaret Midge Mayfield and her husband, Larland, of Drury, Missouri, Mildred Brown and her husband, David, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Christine Hourie and her husband, Merual, of Kitchener, Canada, Bernice Tott of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Kathy Groves and her husband, Patrick, of Bullhead, Arizona; one sister: Betty June Gillette; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
