Maxine Fern Witt

Maxine Fern Witt, daughter of the late Fred and Lena (Franklin) Melton, was born on November 16, 1922 in Tarkio, Missouri and departed this life on October 26, 2010 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 87 years of age. She was a lifelong resident of Mtn. Grove and a member of the First Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove for over fifty years.
Maxine was united in marriage to Bill Hutcheson on April 29, 1946. They co-owned and operated the South Side Furniture business for many years. Bill passed away on January 18, 1984. Maxine was later married to Peter Witt on January 3, 1991. He also preceded her in death on November 13, 2008.
Maxine was a loving and caring wife, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family very much and enjoyed visiting with them.
Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Darrel and Merrel; and by three sisters: Ollia Mae, Gladys and Ernestine.
She is survived by two brothers: Glen Melton and his wife, Christine, of Clayton, Indiana, and Gene Melton and his wife, Sue, of Valley, Alabama; three sisters: Madge Freeman and her husband, Leonard, and Ruth Freeman and her husband, Lloyd, all of Mtn. Grove and Wanda Prock of Danville, Indiana; a sister-in-law: Mildred Melton of Licking, Missouri; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.


Funeral Services:
Friday, October 29th at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
No Formal Visitation
Friends may call at their convenience in the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Thursday.
