May Adele Mayfield

July 10, 1928 — September 3, 2015

May Adele (Lawson) Mayfield, daughter of the late Jim and Golda (Gaddis) Lawson, was born on July 10, 1928, in Rayborn, Missouri. She departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her family in her home, on September 3, 2015, at the age of 87.
May Adele grew up in the Dawson community, there she attended school and church. On November 29, 1947, May Adele was united in marriage to her sweetheart, Don Mayfield, in Thayer, Kansas. Three daughters were born to this union: Donna, Vonna, and Aleta.
May Adele enjoyed her family and loved every time her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would come to visit. She also had a special bond with her sis, Bea, and has missed her dearly. May Adele enjoyed cooking and always offered a snack or drink to anyone who came to visit. It was a yearly tradition for her to make Christmas candy and share with others.
She also enjoyed camping and loved to travel as long as her health permitted. More than anything she enjoyed being with her husband, Don. Whether sitting on their porch or in their recliners, she just wanted to be by his side.
May Adele was saved and baptized as a young person at Dawson Assembly of God. She recently rededicated her life to the Lord while praying with her granddaughters, afterwards she expressed her excitement to be going to Heaven.
Besides her parents, May Adele was preceded in death by one sister: Bea Lincoln; and several family members.
May Adele is survived by her loving husband, Don, of their home; three daughters: Donna Davis and her husband, Vince, Aleta Pamperien and her husband, Randy, all of Mountain Grove, and Vonna Day and her husband, Lynn, of Hartville, Missouri; one brother: Jimmie Lee Lawson and his wife, Dona Ann of Mountain Grove; five grandchildren: Jamie, Marty, Wes, Ashley, and Kayla; twelve great-grandchildren: Trevr, Paige, Laura, Michael, Cody, Justin, Preston, Audrey, Taylor, Bella, Kolton, and Kason; and a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her.
