Melba Frances Coday

Melba Frances Coday, daughter of Forrest Henderson and Anna Jane Young, was born August 24, 1941, in Hartville, Missouri, and departed this life February 28, 2022, at Maples Health and Rehab in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 4 days.

She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Coday in 1988, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Buairus Gene “Bub” Moody, great-grandson, Jude Mattison, brothers, Kenneth Henderson and Dennis Hurst, sisters, Mary Lloyd, and Kay Woodman.

Melba is survived by her daughters, Lagena Scott and husband, Mike, of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Kim Mattison and husband, Randy, of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Nicholas Scott of Ozark, Andrea Scott of Springfield, and Krist Mattison of Springfield; great-granddaughter, Jada Heard; sisters, Wilda Taylor and husband, Ken, of Springfield, Kathy Thomas and husband, Lowell, of Springfield, and Cheri McKenzie and husband, Dennis, of Buffalo, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was born and raised in Hartville, where she graduated from Hartville High School in the Class of 1959. She was a devoted mother who worked many years at Coday Pharmacy in Mansfield to provide for her family.

In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, embroidering, making quilts and crossword puzzles, but most of all, she loved her family.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt. We have many great memories together and will always cherish them.
