Mildred Irene Swale

February 2, 1915 — May 27, 2008

Mildred Irene Swale, daughter of the late Clarence and Lula (Dixon) Cochrun, was born on February 2, 1915 in Lima, Ohio and departed this life on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri, following a short illness at 93 years of age.
Mildred grew up and attended school in Parks, Nebraska. She received her nurses training at the Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska and was a registered nurse until her retirement. She worked in hospitals and was a school nurse in Missouri for thirteen years.
She was united in marriage to Clifford John Swale on August 25, 1938 in Marysville, Kansas. This union was blessed with one daughter. They moved to southern Minnesota for six years and later moved back to Nebraska for a short time. In 1964 they moved to Missouri to make their home in Douglas and Wright Counties over the years. When Clifford passed away on May 20, 1991, Mildred moved to Mtn. Grove where she was living at the time of her passing.
She enjoyed being outdoors tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. One of her most favorite things to do was crocheting angels to share with those around her.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her. Mildred was a long time member of the Norwood Assembly of God Church where she was very active in the ladies groups. She loved working and helping in church wherever she was needed.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two step-fathers; her step-mother; a sister: Joan Vinson; and by her son-in-law: Ed Scott.
She is survived by her loving daughter: Jane Scott of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one sister: Sandra Smith of Broad Run, Virginia; three grandchildren: Edward Scott, Jr. and his wife, Charlotte “Charly,” Roy Dale Scott, Shawsha Scott, and Kevin Jenkins and his wife, Sheila; eight great-grandchildren: Tammy Pattison and her husband, James, Nathan L. Scott and his wife, Stephanie, Janel Scott, Sheridan M. Scott, Amber D. Shannon and her husband, Brandon, Adam R. Jenkins and his wife, Ashley, Curtis Jenkins and Caleb Jenkins; seven great-great-grandchildren: Laurynn K. Mickey, Ashlynn N. Mickey, Avery L. Scott, Serinity Scott, Brandon J. Bitzer, Micheal Scott and Wyatt Shannon; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral Services:
Saturday, May 31, 2008 - 10:00 AM in the Norwood Assembly of God Church.
Visitation:
Friday, May 30, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Burial:
Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, Missouri
