Monte Willard Kemper

April 25, 1922 — May 20, 2011

Monte Willard Kemper, son of the late Seth and Lilly Mae (Cross) Kemper, was born on April 25, 1922 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri and departed this life on May 20, 2011 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. He was 89 years, and 25 days of age.
Monte grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1940. He served his country in the United States Army-Air Force during World War II in several campaigns; Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe and was honorably discharged on October 8, 1945 as a Tech. Sergeant. He received the American Defense Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and one Overseas Bar.
Before going overseas, he was stationed at Randolph Field Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
While living in Texas, he met his future wife, Frankie Barron and they were married on June 9, 1942 in San Antonio. Two children were born to this union.
They made their home in the Mtn. Grove area all their lives, except for Monte’s time in the service.
Monte retired from Mid-America Dairymen in Cabool after working there for many years. He enjoyed camping with his family and going on vacations.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Monte attended the First Free Will Baptist in Mtn. Grove where he enjoyed the services and visiting with his many friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Frankie Kemper; his daughter: Betty Ann (Kemper) Gann; and by three sisters: Susan Swain, Lucy Dodd, and Elizabeth Burrer.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Ronnie W. and Marimartha Kemper of Mtn. Grove; two grandsons: Ronnie D. Kemper and his wife, Jeanie, and Daniel Ray Kemper; two great-grandchildren: Shawn Michael Kemper and Jennifer Kemper; and many other relatives and friends.
