Myrtle Marie (Strunk) Lathrom

Myrtle Marie Lathrom, daughter of the late Orville and Betty (Williams) Strunk, was born on March 25, 1924 in Douglas County, Missouri, and passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at her residence near Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She was 88 years of age.
Myrtle grew up and attended school in Douglas County, Missouri and graduated from Norwood High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to Leonard Lathrom in February of 1943. Three children were born to this union.
Myrtle was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed taking long walks, even in her late 80’s. She liked hunting mushrooms each spring, canning and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens.
She truly enjoyed being around people. She loved her family very much and looked forward to spending time with them and her friends. She also liked to travel and was known to have an adventurous spirit. She liked to travel around the world through reading the National Geographic publications in her spare time.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Leonard Lathrom on January 23, 1982; and by one brother: Herman Strunk.
She is survived by one son: Bill J. Lathrom of Mtn. Grove; two daughters: Norma (Lathrom) Snyder and her husband Robert and Twila “Jean” (Lathrom) Anderson, all of Mtn. Grove; four grandchildren: Sheri Branson, Bryan Mohrbacher, Taunya Cooley, and Jason Snyder; eleven great-grandchildren: Mikaela Branson, Hannah Branson, Sydney Branson, Emily Branson, Robert Strube, Bradley Strube, Jordan Liska, Ryan Liska, Emma Snyder, Keften Mohrbacher and Rayen Mohrbacher; a cousin who is like a sister to Myrtle: Alma Tompkins; and numerous other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.


Graveside Service: Monday,

April 16th at 2:00 PM in the
Green Mountain Cemetery.

Visitation: No Formal –

Friends may sign the

register book on Monday,

8:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
