Nadine Bray

June 29, 1926 — October 1, 2020

Nadine Bray, daughter of the late Clarence and Maggie (Baker) Trumbo, was born June 29, 1926, near Lynchburg, Missouri, and departed this life October 1, 2020, at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 94 years, 3 months, and 2 days of age.

Nadine grew up and attended school in the Lynchburg area. She was united in marriage to Truel Bray on November 20, 1954. Two sons were born to this union. Nadine worked for Brown Shoe Company for several years before becoming a well-known baby sitter. She helped raise many kids and built lasting bonds with them. In fact, she was known by many as “Grandma Bray.”

Nadine enjoyed cooking and was known for her good beans and fried pies. She also enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, and going for car rides to see the beautiful countryside. She loved her family and always looked forward to spending time with them. Nadine greatly enjoyed her last fourteen years living in Mountain Grove with her granddaughter, Courtney Hensley and husband, Tyler.

Nadine was saved and baptized at a young age. She remained faithful to the end and made reading the Bible a priority in life as she started each day in the Word. She enjoyed attending services at Manes Baptist Church as long as health permitted.

Besides her parents, Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, Truel Bray, one son, Billy Bray, one brother, Billy Trumbo, and two sisters, Lela Walker and Maxine Lamkins.

Survivors include one son, John Bray and wife, Judy, of Mountain Grove, one daughter-in-law, Kathy Bray of Mountain Grove, six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her greatly.
