Oleta Margaret Ramsey

Mrs. Oleta Margaret (Hardin) Ramsey, age 90, of Mountain Grove, Mo passed away on Monday, March 25, 2014. Mrs. Ramsey was born July 18, 1923 on a farm east of Mountain Grove in Texas County, MO, to Grover Cleveland Hardin and Iva Ann (Weber) Hardin. She was the seventh of ten children. The family moved to Mountain Grove in the late 1920s so the children would be closer to school. During the Depression, the Hardins had the Springfield, MO, paper route in Mountain Grove and Oleta started delivering papers while in the third grade. In high school she played violin in the orchestra, sang in the chorus, and was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp. She graduated from high school in 1942 and attended Southwest Missouri State Teachers College in Springfield for a short time. She worked as a telephone operator in Mountain Grove, Houston, MO, and Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and retired from government civil service in 1992 while working for the Quartermaster at Fort Leonard Wood.
Mrs. Ramsey was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Mountain Grove. She always enjoyed getting together with friends and family and looked forward to the annual Mountain Grove alumni activities - especially the breakfast with her graduating classmates and the Hardin familys annual reunion on the first Sunday in July. In recent years she was a resident of Landmark Villa in Cabool, MO, and the family thanks the staff and residents for their kindness and loving care.
She is preceded in death by four brothers, Linville, Harold, Randall, and Ernest; and two sisters, Nina and Velma. She is survived by two sons, Ronald (and wife Melody) of Memphis, TN; Mark of Albany, NY; granddaughter Natasha (and husband Jason McCallister and great-grandson Hayden) of Oakland, TN; one sister, Vinita (Hardin) Vannier of Wentzville, MO; two brothers, Ura Hardin (and wife Patsy) of Mountain Grove, and Norman Hardin of Desloge, Mo; 31 nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.


Visitation: Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM in the Trinity United Methodist Church , Mtn. Grove, Missouri. Funeral Service: Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
