Olive Adamson

May 16, 1920 — March 23, 2015

Olive Adamson, daughter of the late Oliver and Bertie (Rogers) Letterman, was born on May 16, 1920, in Pansy, Missouri, located in Douglas County. She left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2015, at the age of 94 years, 10 months, and 7 days. At the time of her passing, Olive was happily residing at Country Living Assisted Living.
Olive grew up in Pansy and attended school through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Robert Earl Adamson on October 19, 1935. The couple welcomed their first child, William Carl in 1938, while living south of Ava, Missouri. Bob and Olive moved to Mountain Grove in 1945 and welcomed their second son, Oliver Ray, in 1947. They raised their two sons on a dairy farm northeast of town. The Adamsons were married for just over 51 years before she lost her loving husband, Bob, in 1987.
Olive spent much of her time being involved in the Willow Springs Free Will Baptist Church and its ministries. She was a godly woman of strong convictions who spent countless hours in prayer and bible study. She was always happy to share with others about her God. In addition to serving Christ, Olives greatest blessing was found in spending time with her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren who will cherish all of their memories of farming, going to church, playing, watching TV, and doing puzzles with Granny. She recently enjoyed celebrating five generations of children and grandchildren on Olivers side of the family.
Olive was admired by many for her talents in making beautiful quilts, detailed embroidery pieces, and delicious home-cooking, especially chocolate meringue pie. She was an avid collector of ceramic animal and angel figurines and stuffed animals, randomly giving pieces away to her grandchildren. Olive was also recognized by family and friends for her extensive collection of bling, as she loved fancy shoes, elegant costume jewelry, and brightly-colored fashion ensembles. Olive was an avid baseball fan who enjoyed watching televised games, especially when the St. Louis Cardinals were playing. Olive also loved visiting with friends at the Senior Center, attending her grandchildrens church and school events, growing beautiful flowers, or going to McDonalds for lunch with her dear friend, Phil.
Besides both parents and her husband, Olive was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Leo Letterman, and a sister, Dale Thomas.
She is survived by two sons: Willie Adamson and wife, Peggy, of Mountain Grove, and Oliver Adamson, and wife, Rose, of Rolla, Missouri; grandchildren: Terry Burnett, Sheila Jo Burnett Crisp, Wendy Burnett Thompson and her husband, Michael, Roberta Adamson Elliott, Tina Adamson Stranghoner and her husband, Bill, Bobby Adamson and Melinda Moore, and Ryan Kerby; special friend, Phil Daugard; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was anticipating the birth of twin great-great grandchildren who are due in September. Olive will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
